Born and raised in the culturally rich state of Uttar Pradesh, India, Smita Das Roy built her early life around education and learning, both as a student and later as a professional. Her marriage brought her to Mumbai and deepened her connection to West Bengal—a land she grew to love through her in-laws and extended family. This dual connection fostered a deep appreciation for Bengali heritage, traditional crafts, and natural living—especially the artistry of jute.
Always drawn to meaningful causes, Smita nurtured a passion for community service and empowerment. In 2024, she channeled this into founding Divinitie. While her artistic soul found expression in curating sustainable jute masterpieces, her professional acumen and rigorous approach to quality led her to expand the brand’s horizons into the industrial sector.
